Organised by the NIHR ARC Palliative and End of Life Care National Leadership Forum, the session is part of a national series highlighting expert insights in the field.

It opens with an introduction from Professor Morag Farquhar of the University of East Anglia, co-lead of the NIHR ARC Palliative and End of Life Care (PEoLC)  National Leadership and lead of the PEoLC theme for ARC East of England.

Presentations are delivered by leading researchers:

  • Associate professor Sarah Yardley and senior research fellow Dr Sally-Anne Francis  (UCL), who explore the work involved in managing end-of-life medications across settings, and the critical gaps between work-as-intended and work-as-done;
  • Dr Rosanna Fennessy (University of Cambridge), who shares recent research mapping patient journeys to understand experiences with anticipatory prescribing and how care can be improved
  • Dr Ikumi Okamoto (University of Edinburgh), who examines challenges to timely access to medications issues during out-of-hours periods.

The session concludes with a live Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to engage with the speakers.
