Yet a narrow view of health inequalities risks leaving systemic inequities in place, by failing to address the complex interplay of social, cultural, and environmental factors.

This year’s Knowledge Exchange Event will focus on how we can develop new research and practice partnerships capable of engaging knowledge from lived experience, as well as tackling the broader social, structural and institutional systems which may shape and perpetuate health inequalities.

We will discuss the following questions:

  • How might working in partnership with voluntary and community organisations help us address social and health inequalities?
  • What challenges might such partnerships encounter?
  • What does lived experience tell us about structural and systemic factors impacting health inequalities ?
  • What might need to change to give us a better way of addressing upstream and structural determinants of health?

About the event

This half day event will include three panels presenting recent and ongoing collaborative projects, their challenges, achievements and provocations. Alongside the presentations we will make space for reflection, discussion and exchange.

There will also be an opportunity to network with delegates and to visit stands showcasing projects and activities undertaken by researchers, health and social care practitioners, voluntary sector and community partners.

Location: The event will take place in Room G79, Franklin Wilkins Building, King's College London, Waterloo campus, London SE18NQ
