Models of midwifery continuity of care and carer models are recommended in international guidance and at the heart of maternity policy in the UK. These models, in which the same midwife or small team of midwives provide care during pregnancy, birth, and the early parenting period, have been found to improve outcomes and experiences of care among women at low and mixed risk of complications.

The event will include:

• Presentation of research findings on implementation of continuity models of care

• Learning and reflections from clinicians, managers and service users

• Participation and Q&A.

This event will bring together researchers, clinicians, policy makers, and service users to discuss research findings from three implementation studies:

  1. POPPIE pilot trial (continuity of care for women with risk factors for preterm birth),
  2. Project 20 (maternity care for women with low socio-economic status and social risk factors)
  3. LEAP (community based continuity of care for women living in areas of social disadvantage and ethnic diversity).

This will be a great opportunity to meet and discuss ongoing and future research needs in a friendly environment. Please note, places are limited so don’t miss out and sign up by 8 February 2022
