Join us on Monday, 31st March from 11- 12.30pm for a webinar hosted by the NIHR’s Mental Health Implementation Network (MHIN). We will explore the critical role of system partners in the implementation of the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF).

The PCREF is a landmark initiative created by NHS England to address long-standing racial inequalities in mental health care. The framework aims to improve mental health services for racialised communities by promoting culturally appropriate services, improving care experiences, and tackling the disproportionate detention of minority ethnic individuals under the Mental Health Act.

As of 31 March 2025, its implementation will be mandatory and included in Care Quality Commission inspections, ensuring Integrated Care Boards and NHS Trusts/Providers prioritise mental health inequalities experienced by racialised communities.

What to expect

Experts from the NHS England Advancing Mental Health Equalities Taskforce, PCREF Steering Group, Care Quality Commission (CQC) and MHIN will be discussing the critical role of Integrated Care Boards and NHS Trusts/Providers in tackling long-standing mental health inequities.

This session will provide insights on strengthening collaboration across systems to drive accountability at all levels and supporting racially diverse community partners to co-create solutions. We will also look at how to leverage existing quality improvement infrastructure for effective implementation.
