The six awards aim to build health and social care research skills, support the use of research in practice and promote diversity in research.

Eligible applicants will work in the Greater London area as a: 

  • nurse, midwife, allied health professional, pharmacist or healthcare scientist
  • social work or public health professional

Successful applicants will receive training, mentoring, accessibility support and funding for patient and public involvement. Their employer will receive £12,000 to support time away from work for the awardee to undertake the opportunities and training provided.

This NIHR-funded scheme is jointly led by Professor Priscilla Harries, Professor of Occupational Therapy, Academic Training Lead and Deputy Research Capacity Building Lead at ARC South London and Professor Catherine Evans, a member of ARC South London's palliative and end of life care theme and Deputy-Director, King’s Clinical Academic Training Office, King’s College London. 

These health and care professionals often have limited research training opportunities and yet are ideally positioned to identify and research real-world challenges. We want to support their drive and talents so they can become our future research leaders

Applications are open and close on Thursday 9 January 2025 at 9am. We will notify you of the outcome of your application by the end of January. 

The awards will run from 1 February 2025 to 31 March 2026.
