The virtual Winter School programme will address a range of topics relevant to PhD students working in health or social care research, including:

  • career development and grant applications
  • writing tips, and communication and presentation skills
  • negotiating the university and NHS environment
  • diversity and inclusion
  • how to build resilience. 

There will also be opportunities to network with other students and academics and to share good working practices.

The event is free for PhD students attending.

Who can attend?

PhD students connected to NIHR ARC London universities* who are working in either applied health or social care research, or basic health research are invited to attend. 

*Students from ARC South London's partner universities – King’s College London, Kingston University and St George’s, University of London – will be given priority. However, we will be reserving some spaces for PhD students from other universities. 

When: Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 December 2020  

This year, due to coronavirus restrictions, we are holding the event online using Zoom.  

The event is sponsored by NIHR ARC South London and is free for PhD students attending.
