Prof Jill Manthorpe awarded in Queen's birthday honours
NIHR ARC South London's social care theme lead Professor Jill Manthorpe has been made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen's birthday honours.
NIHR ARC South London's social care theme lead Professor Jill Manthorpe has been made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen's birthday honours.
Professor Manthorpe has worked at King's College London for over 20 years and is its first and only professor of social work. She is the Director of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Policy Research Unit in Health and Social Care Workforce, Associate Director of the NIHR School for Social Care Research and social care theme lead for the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) South London and Academic Lead for Making Research Count London. Her research spans social care and health services in the UK and internationally. She worked in south London for several years in the community sector and continues to support community sector groups in trustee roles.
This award is further recognition of the importance of social care and social work research. I am very grateful to everyone who has contributed to our research; especially during the pandemic pressures. It is hugely inspiring to learn from people with a passion to make the world a better place through their work. This award recognises the substantial investments being made by government in social care and social work research and its multiple achievements.
